Self Defence Sprays
Self-defence sprays were developed for law enforcement, as a safe alternative to guns and other devices. However, it is an effective and safe way to defend yourself; if in doubt and certainly when in immediate danger.
A self-defence spray is designed to help you get away, not to bring an attacker down; sprays buy you time, which buys you distance, which ultimately buys you safety.
The active ingredients in self-defence sprays currently available on the market are:
- CS (Orthochlorobenzalmalonitrile)
- CN (alphachloroacetaphenone)
- OC (Oleoresin Capsicum)
The first two, CS and CN, irritate the membrane tissues and cause stinging and tearing. They can take from 5 to 30 seconds before they are effective and may not work if someone is drunk, on drugs, psychotic, or can't feel pain. However, the remaining compound, OC, does not have these limitations.
The Viper range of self-defence sprays has been chosen to ensure maximum effectiveness and leaves you in no doubt that they will have the desired effect.
This has been achieved by choosing a range of products which has OC as its active ingredient, or products which also contain CS gas for dual immobilising effect. As well as these active ingredients a choice of spray or stream mode and a gel formula(see below) and varying size of canister; ensuring all individual needs are met. For those wishing to identify their assailant for law enforcement, some products also contain UV dye.
Viper is also proud to be a distributor for the highly recognised MACE® brand, which is known for the manufacture of high quality personal defence sprays.
